Discussion followed. Councilmember Pesek: We should review the petitioners comments. Councilmember Paurus: We should possibly review the beach area in question. Mayor Van Nest: I believa the City should deny the petition to close the beach area and request the Park Commission to recommend controls such as gates and signs regulating hours, closing time, and doqs. Mr. Dick Oliver: Who will control the kids? Mr. John Th.rtman: Who will prosecute? Who will respond? We want action now. Mayor Van Nest: We will proviue service but we need you to call the police department when there is a problem. vur records indicate that there have been few comp':.aints on the area. Mrs. Fritz: The petitioners either have their own beach or they have no children! The beach area serves more then the residents next to it. Councilmen�)er Pesek: I feel we should review this next summer and possibl;• consider fencing and a li`equard.
