Page -3-
Iled imt Ha)dr n loan; - 6 to 12 percent slope:
Green
The maF1p .r,bol for this soil is HbC and the map color is medium green.
This is z rolling; soil occupying irregularly chrped areas on hillsides
and knolls. This soil is well -drained and therefore never saturated
although sidehill seepage is not uncommon around basement walls during;
rainy +sons or spring thaws. The rolling slopes offer attractive
building sites. Soil strength is adequate. Shrink -swell (volume, change)
is low to moderate with cEdnges in moisture content.. The soil is mod-
erately permeable. Erosion is a r;i:ard if the soil is loft exposed for
extended periods.
Dark Hayden lows - 12 to 18 percent slope:
Green — —"
The map s)w.bol for this soil is 1{hD and tae map color is dark green.
This is a hilly soil occupying irregularly shaped areas on hill sides
and knolls. This is a r►e:ll-drainer soil which never ueco;:es saturated,
hmie:•er seeps may appear on sidehills during spring thaws or rainy
seasons. There is a large erosion hazard if this soil is left ex -'posed.
Site planning on soils such as this is more complex if the natural
features of the terrain are to be maintained. Soil strength is adequate.
Shrink -swell (volume change) is low to moderate with changes in moisture
content. The sc..l is moderately permeable.
Brown Hayden loam - 18 to 24 percent slime:
The map symbol for this soil is ME and the reap color is brawn. This is
a steep soil occupying areas on hillsides. The soil never becomes sat-
urated except where there tray be seeps diirin.- Het seasons. The steepness
of this soil is a severe constraint to most urban development if the
natural landforms are to be maintained. There is a severe erosion 1-.azard
if this soil is left exposed. Soil strength is adequate. Shrink -swell
(volinre chance) is low to moderate with changes in rioi ,.ure cuikt,:;t.
soil is moderately permeable
gown Widen and Lester lows - 24 to 3S Lercent slope:
■ The map symbol for this soil is fill- and the map color is brou:i. This is
a very steep soil occupying areas on hillsides, on sides of ,:rep ravines,
on slopes adjacent to lakes and wetlands.
