Building permits on either <br />parcel would be subject to a satisfactory septic <br />system reviewed and approved by City Engineer. <br />Mr. French of the Hennepin County Park Reserve <br />made some comments regarding Orono's position <br />for projected park, use of Big Island. fir. French <br />was informed that Orono's position has not changed <br />and they would be glad to reaffirm same. <br />Mayor Van Nest volunteered to attend the next <br />:Hennepin County Park Reserve meeting. fir. French <br />was informed by the Cormnission that the City <br />would be hard pressed to deny proposal meeting <br />all zoning requirements. <br />Planning Commission recommended approval of <br />preliminary plans of proposed plat subject to <br />all necessary easements and park dedication fee <br />of $500 ($250 per lot). <br />Council flee+.ing - November 14, 1977 <br />Mayor Van Nest commented that lie had discussed <br />with fir. Cliff French, Hennepin County Park <br />Reserve representative, Hennepin Countv's <br />future plans for Jig Island for park purposes <br />and Orono's position on this matter. Mayor Van <br />Nest also commented that Orono does adhere to <br />its zoning code and allows permits when applicable. <br />Services to Big Island are difficult to provide. <br />Councilmember Paurus commented that he would support <br />Hennepin County's projected park use of Big Island <br />and would favor reviewinq their comments at a <br />future Council meeting. The City should review the <br />present application before us and address ourselves <br />to the future plans for Big Island identifying <br />the lots in question as part of the future planning <br />for Big Island. <br />Mr. John Gridley, represciting fir. Vetter, commented <br />that Mr. French had told him that the Park Reserve <br />could condemn property for park purposes. fir. Gridley <br />continued by stating that the Park Reserve has no <br />funds and that they could not stop a legitimate land <br />transfer. I have sold these lots to fir. Vetter, who <br />in turn, has sold to another party. <br />Paurus moved, Butler seconded, to defer this request <br />for a subdivision of fir. Durwell Vetter, Biel Island, <br />for 30 days for staff review and Hennepin County <br />Park Reserve comments on its future planning for <br />Bicf Island as it relates to these lots in question. <br />Motion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0). <br />SUBDIVISION <br />Big Island <br />(Continued) <br />
