4. Some sources have indicated that existing access puints need to be <br />expanded and improved. <br />5. Some municipalities, particularly on the eastern end of the Lake, <br />have severe constraints on the opportunity for developing new access <br />points. <br />6. There is adequate marina development on the lake and further develop- <br />ment is unnecessary. <br />7. Boat ramp access should be measured in terms of parking spaces avail- <br />able for car -trailer combinations. <br />8. The two Tasks Forces concluded that written agreements are needed to <br />increase the reliable on- and off-street parking for car -trailer <br />combinations. <br />9. Make-ready ducks are needed at some public launch ramps. <br />10. There is a need for improved signage showing the location of iff- <br />site parking. <br />11. The 1983 Task Force recommended that municipalities give consider- <br />ation to creation of a public access site at any existing commercial <br />access location prior to possible future rezoning of such a site to <br />multiple dwelling or other non -lake access use. <br />12. The same Task Force found winter access to be adequate and well <br />distributed. <br />13. the acquisition, development and operation and maintenance costs of <br />new free boat launch should be the responsibility of the implemen- <br />ting agency. <br />14. There is a need for improved ancillary services for the boating <br />public. <br />15. Some informants expressed the view that lakesh--sia.nts do not <br />view the lake as a regional or state resource. ,r., some felt <br />that that view was becoming less prevalent. <br />16. Insufficient or no regulations exist which address ready dry storage <br />at marina. <br />17. Some key informants, contrary to many of the issues listed here, <br />state that there is sufficient public access at the present time; de- <br />velopment of further public access is not needed. <br />18. The LMCO, according to - `ormants, should have the power to ac- <br />quire, construct and -cress points. <br />Mork Elements tar the Plan: <br />The contractor will: <br />1. Inventory and map poe.ic and private warn season access to the lake. <br />The inventory will be classified by minor civil division, manage- <br />ment area, analvsis zone and type of access. As a minimum, the type <br />of boating access will include: <br />• restricted public access (resid,ot use only), <br />• multiple residential docks, <br />• private evamerc,al mariner, <br />• public Isunch ramps, and <br />• public corridors without t,re,al acres, facilities <br />• private riparian docks and access (from LMCO annual inventory) <br />17 <br />
