1-394 meetings set <br />The 1-394 Task Force has <br />developed preliminary recom- <br />mendations to be reviewed at a <br />series of neighborhood <br />meetings this month: <br />is Southeast corridor area: <br />Tuesday, January 13, Ridge - <br />dale Center Community <br />Room; <br />is Southwest corridor area: <br />Thursday, January 15, Ridge - <br />dale Center Community <br />Room; <br />• Northeast corridor area: <br />Tuesday, January 20, Oak <br />Knoll Lutheran Church, 11400 <br />Wayzata Blvd.; <br />• Northwest corridor area: <br />Thursday, January 22, Christ <br />Memorial Lutheran Church, <br />13501 Co. Rd. 15. <br />Each of the meetings will <br />begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at 8 <br />P. M. <br />1-394 corridor area residents, <br />business owners and other <br />interested citizens are invited to <br />attend these meetings. <br />Free cable offered <br />Rogers Cablesystems, the cable <br />company serving Minnetonka, <br />offers customers many levels of <br />service in varying price ranges. <br />However, the Universal Tier, or <br />Community Access Service, is <br />available to anyone, in areas where <br />cable service is presently available, <br />for no monthly service fee. <br />For a one-time $24.95 instal- <br />lation charge, Minnetonka <br />residents can receive KTCA- <br />Public (Channel 2), WCCO-CBS <br />(4), KSTP-ABC (5' KMSP- <br />Independent (9), --NBC <br />(11), KITN-Indep(. (29) <br />and KXLI-Indepfi .1) p' S <br />the government, eduL... )n and <br />public access stations on channels <br />32-35. If you are presently <br />receiving cable service, but <br />wish to switch to Community <br />Access Service only, it still <br />requires a $24.95 hookup fee. <br />Installation of Community <br />Access Service should improve <br />your television reception. For more <br />information, contact Rogers <br />Cablesystems, 522-2000. <br />Metro Mobility service becomes available <br />Metro Mobility, the Regional <br />Transit Board's handicapped <br />transportation service, will be <br />available to Minnetonka residents <br />beginning January 1, 1987. Metro <br />Mobility provides door-to-door <br />transportation for eligible persons <br />between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 <br />p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. and 6 <br />p.m. weekends and holidays. Trips <br />of 8 miles or less have a standard <br />fare of $1. Trips exceeding 8 miles <br />may require an additional fee. <br />Prior to using this transportation <br />service, riders must meet one or <br />more of the following criteria: <br />• inability to maneuver oneself <br />mile or more (2 long or 4 short <br />blocks); <br />• inab, y to go up or down tt-e <br />steps of a mainline bus: <br />e inability to wait outdoors for ten <br />or more minutes; <br />a inability to use or learn to use the <br />mainline bus service due to <br />mental impairment or learning <br />disability; <br />a inability to use or learn to use <br />mainline bus service as Spec, lied <br />by an orientation and mobility <br />sFz?cialist. <br />An annual certification fee of S10 is <br />charged to help defray costs of the <br />program <br />If you would like additional infor- <br />mation about the Metro Mobility <br />program, contact the Metro <br />Mobility Adrnfn strative Center, <br />349-7480 <br />Year ahead (conr(l) <br />as a oartner in the development of <br />this multi -use office park. Trammell <br />Crow is eager to proceed with both <br />the residential and office com- <br />ponents of the project and revised <br />plans are presently being reviewed. <br />In conjunction with development <br />of the Carlson Center, the 1-394 <br />Task Force, appointed in 1986, will <br />be presenting recommendations <br />about future land uses in the entire <br />1-394 corridor to the City Council <br />early this year. This Task Force has <br />held several neighborhood meet- <br />ings and spent a significant amount <br />of time analyzing land -use, traffic <br />and environmental issues as well <br />as developing recommendations <br />to lay the groundwork for well - <br />planned future development in that <br />area. <br />I alri pleased to report that the <br />City's financial condition remains <br />excellent. Following a presentati(-n <br />to Moody's Investors Services i, <br />New York by City representatives, <br />the financial analyst confirmed the <br />City's strong financial condition by <br />improving its bond rating from Al <br />to Aa. <br />On behalf of the City Council, I <br />would like to thank the many citi- <br />zens who serve on our volunteer <br />boards and commissions. These <br />volunteers provide valuable insight <br />and recommendations to the <br />Council on many projects and <br />issues occurring in Minnetonka. <br />There will be a number of vacancies <br />on these boards and commissions <br />early in 1987. If you are interested <br />in serving. please contact your <br />ward Council member or myself. <br />I would also like to thank my <br />colleagues on the Council who <br />dedicate many hours to represent <br />the ci*izen6 of Minnetonka and to <br />acknowledge the continued efforts <br />of all City employees who provide <br />service in a courteous and pro- <br />fessional manner.
