January 6, 1987 <br />Dear Mayor Grabek and Councilmembers Peterson, Goetten and Sime: <br />Your representation of the residents of Orono begins with <br />challenge and opportunity as well as grave responsibility to <br />those residents. There are many issues at hand that need <br />intelligent interpretation and execution. The manner in which <br />you discharge the duties of your respective offices is critical <br />to the continuing prosperity of our city. <br />One of the first of those duties is to appoint the fifth <br />member among you. I feel strongly that such a member should <br />be a person who is an obvious choice of the voters. But for <br />49 votes Mr. Gary printup would today be our Mayor and you <br />would not be going through this process. Clearly, Mr. printup <br />should be the fifth member of the Orono City Council, and I <br />urge you to vote for his appointment to that seat. <br />Thank you for your time and consideration.
