MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br />Monday, January 18, 2010 <br />66:30 o'clock p.m. <br />Rice asked where the additional vegetative screening should be planted. <br />Curtis illustrated on the overhead the area where Staff is recommending additional vegetative screening. <br />Curtis stated that at the present only native grasses are planted along the base of the wall. <br />Chair Kang opened the public hearing at 6:42 p.m. <br />There were no public comments regarding this application. <br />Chair Kang closed the public hearing at 6:43 p.m. <br />Kang stated she does not have any issues with the application. <br />Feuss stated in her view removal of the retaining walls would cause more damage. <br />Rice moved, Feuss seconded, to recommend approval of Application #09-3425, James Johnson, 650 <br />Big Island, granting of an after-the-fact conditional use permit, subject to the condition that the <br />applicant submit an engineer's opinion on the wall construction for the building permit, with the <br />recommendation that the applicant consider additional vegetative screening in the area of the <br />retaining wall.
