i% <br />MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING HELD SEPTEMBER 15, 1986 <br />#1074 GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH CONTINUED <br />No one was present from the public regarding this matter <br />and the public hearing was closed. <br />It was moved by Taylor, to recommend approval of staff's <br />recommendation to approve the smaller "Standard" sign. <br />Motion not seconded, motion dies. <br />It was moved by Hanson, seconded by Taylor, to recommend <br />approval of the variance to allow the "Supra" sign as <br />proposed. Motion, Ayes 2, Nays 4. Bellows, Kelley, <br />Goetten, and McDonald voted nay. Motion denied. <br />Planning Commission recommended to applicant to check <br />into larger/lower reader board signs. <br />It was moved by McDonald, seconded by Goetten, to table <br />this application for alternative sign plans. Motion, <br />Ayes 6, Nays 0. <br />#1075 JOSEPH DURDA <br />3135 NORTH SHORE DRIVE <br />VARIANCE <br />PUBLIC HEARING 9:54-10:08 <br />The Affidavit of Publication and Certificate of Mailing <br />was noted. <br />Assistant Zoning Administrator Gaffron explained the <br />two -fold variance request within the 75' lakeshore <br />setback area 1) to construct a patio and extend the <br />existing 3' wide catwalk between the porch and bedroom <br />to allow for a second exit from the existing walk -out <br />doors off the bedroom. 2 ) allow the existing 144 s.f. <br />wood deck which was constructed in the Spring 1986 by <br />applicant without a permit replacing the 72 s.f. <br />concrete patio. <br />Delores Durda was present for this matter along with <br />their attorney Ray Piirainen. <br />Mrs. Durda stated that when she had the wood deck <br />constructed her husband was out of the country and the <br />contractor told her a permit was not required. <br />Mr. Piirainen explained the reason for the enlarged <br />decking area which allowed one to exit in both <br />directions whereas the other deck did not provide that. <br />Chairman Kelley stated that it was his opinion that the <br />deck should be cut back to the original 72 s.f. <br />Goetten stated that she agreed with Chairman Kelley <br />noting hardcover concern with protecting the lake. <br />11 <br />
