Section 3.07 Associate Members of the Squadron shall consist of Active Members in good standing of other Squadrons of USPS, or of the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons, who shall qualify for Associate Membership as hereinafter provided. Associate Members shall have all of the powers and privileges of Active Members except that they shall not hold office in the Squadron, have representation by Delegates of the Squadron, be entitled to represent the Squadron at any USPS or District· meeting, or be entitled to vote at any meeting of the Squadron. Section 3.08 Honorary Membership may be conferred, for not more than one year at a time, by the Executive Committee in the same manner as invitation to Active Membership, upon any person not a member of USPS who has rendered conspicuous service in the interest of the objects of the Squadron. Honorary Membership shall not be subject to the payment of entrance fees and dues. Honorary Members shall not have any of the rights and privileges extended to Active Members, Family Members, or Associate Members, except that they may wear the USPS membership lapel pin. Section 3.09 No blanket invitation to membership may be made by any person to any group of persons. Invitation to membership may be extended only in writing to individuals who must accept such invitation, in writing, within thirty (30) days of the mailing of the invitation or forfeit the privilege. Successive jnvitations to membership may be extended only upon the recommendation of the Membership Committee and by the affirmative vote of at least two-thirds (2/3) or the Executive Committee members present and voting at a duly constituted meeting of said Committee. Section 3.10 The nomination of a candidate for Active, Family, or Associate Membership in the Squadron must have been endorsed by one (1) or more Active Members and must have the approval of the Membership Committee before being presented to the Executive Committee for final action. Election to any class of membership in the Squadron shall require the affirmative vote of at least two-thirds (2/3) of the Executive Committee members present and voting at a duly constituted meeting of said Committee. Section 3.11 No member of the Executive Committee or of the Membership Committee shall disclose his or any other member's vote, or make any comment on or discuss outside the Committee -4- MINNETONKA POWER SQUADRON BYLAWS Page 5 meetings any invitation to membership. No person may disclose the name of any person considered for membership to any person not an Active Member of the Squadron. No person, Member or otherwise, shall be entitled to receive information from any member of the Executive Committee or of the Membership Committee concerning the invitation or non-invitation of any person or persons to membership in the Squadron and USPS, except that a Member proposing a person for membership in USPS shall be informed by the Membership Committee as to the status of his proposal. Section 3.12 The classification of Members and the educational grade of Members attaining Advanced Grades shall be in accordance wi'th the policy and authority of USPS. ARTICLE IV APPRENTICES Section 4.01 In accordance with the policy and authority of USPS, any person who had attained at least the age of twelve (12) and who had not attained the age of nineteen (19), and who does not otherwise qualify for any class of membership, may become associated with the Squadron as a Squadron Apprentice, but only upon the invitation of the Executive Committee after the affirmative vote of at least two-thirds (2/3) of the Members present and voting at a duly constituted meeting of said Committee. Section 4.02 A squadron Apprentice associated with the Squadron shall have only such rights and privileges, shall be subject to such limitations and conditions, and shall pay such fees as are set forth by the policy and authority of USPS and of the Squadron. ARTICLE V OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES GENERAL PROVISIONS Section 5.01 Elected officers, elected committee chairmen and committeemen, and all appointees, shall be subject to the following general provisions: -5-
