SEP ? ;; <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD <br />OF ORONO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 278 <br />HELD ON SEPTEMBER 8, 1986 <br />The regular meecing of the School Board of Orono Independent School District No. <br />278 was held on Monday, September 8, 1986. <br />Present: Dave McKown James Franklin Thomas Mich <br />Don Andersoo John Maresh William Fenholt <br />Kitty Crosby Lucie Taylor <br />UPON MOTION by Jim Franklin, seconded by John Maresh, the consent agenda was <br />approved as follows: <br />- approved the minutes of the August 11, 1986 regular meeting; <br />- approved the appointment of Bev Ebbecke as physical education/adaptive <br />physical education teacher; of Joyce Lenz as half-time kindergarten <br />teacher; of Toni Nelson as kindergarten teacher; of Betty Heitke as half- <br />time gifted/reading teacher; <br />- approved the resignation of Margaret Mar as speec:-language clinician; <br />- approved the appointments of Mary Moran, Lane Larson, Sandy Sievers and <br />Joni Galzk; as short -hour cooks; <br />- approved the resignation of Lois Pearson as kitchen aide; <br />- approved variance requests for the following students to attend Orono <br />Schools: Mark E. Tomlinson, Megan McDowell, Ryan Lagieski, Stephanie and <br />Allisun Ballantine, Brian Jensen and Steven Gauthier; <br />- approved the variance request for Rachel Shanley to attend Mound-Westonka <br />Schools; <br />- approved the following new Community Education classes to be offered in <br />the fall of 1986: Leasing: An Alternative to Ownership, Knitting, <br />Introduction to Spinning, Are You Confused About Cholestrol?, Financial <br />Aid for College, Adult Floor Hockey League; <br />- nominated Kay Sause to the ECSU Planning and Services Commission; <br />- approved the bills as covered by vouchers 051795 through 051801 (051802 <br />through 051805 were voided, these checks were held for 1985-86 vouchers) <br />and 052031 through through 052250 (checks 052251 through 052416 are com- <br />puter checks) and 052417 through 052483. <br />Dr. Mich reported that the employee picnic held on August 21 was definitely a <br />success and, as the staff was so appreciative, he believed a tradition had begun <br />at Orono; that Jerry Allen, the preschool workshop speaker, had given an <br />excellent presentation which would be kept in mind as a program for parents at a <br />future date; that the bussing needs of Intermediate School students had been <br />discussed at a joint meeting of administration, transportation people and a <br />police officer, that the beginning enrollment for the 1986-87 school year was at <br />2009 in comparison with 2012 at this time last year; that Kent Winter had pro- <br />vided him a copy of The High School Writer of Minnesota and that the following <br />six students have art cTes 7n this vo u_me: Kristi Kvis� Dana Neddermeyer, John <br />Prineas, Jennifer Smith, Brad Ehalt and Kent Meyer; that copies of the minutes <br />of the Medina Council, regarding the Hennepin Technical Center', west campus, <br />are available for those interested. <br />Dr. Mich stated that Marge Gasch had requested that the resolution regarding the <br />west campus of HTC, adopted by the Board on August 11, be sent to the 13 par- <br />
