She said very little of <br />the programming is outside programming (canned tape). She called <br />the Committee's attention to the Deep Dish - National Satellite <br />program. There are no unsettled claims. She explained the free <br />tv production workshop, a 12 hour program offered the Community <br />organizations. This would cover portable and studio camera operation <br />and editing. She said the -FCC testing came out well. Committee <br />member De monchaux asked about the different marketing technique. <br />Mary said you can't directly measure the results. The two purposes <br />were to enhance the image of cable tv and to push basic cable. <br />DRTV will begin September 9th. There will be newspaper acts, a <br />basic acquisition drive, HP'` promotion and State Fair Promotion. <br />All former subscribers will be telemarketed. <br />Peter Be-7ins asked if Dow -Sat has anything that shows physically <br />where V wires go? Mary said Mr. Wimler has as builts on all <br />lines. one said NSP refuses to locate service drops. The tele- <br />phone and gas companies are excellent to work with. The phone <br />company is working on being the clearing house for locating all <br />lines in the metro area. Mary said right now they probably spend <br />5 hours a day on construction sites locating lines. <br />Gerry Schmeig asked if there is any update on Rolling Acres Road. <br />Mary said this will involve feeder lines and line extensions and <br />suggested sending letters to residents. She will get information <br />to him to pass on at his Thursday meeting. She said deregulation <br />ends 1/1/87, tiers can go by the board with no rate limits. Dow- <br />Sat's goal is to charge $15.00 monthly for expanded b=sic and <br />to drop regular basic entirely. Another goal is to eventually <br />have all the channels on their correct numbers (29, 41, etc.). <br />IV. BUDGET COMMITTEE REPORT <br />Chairman Olds asked Mary if $ 50,000.00 was a safe figure to use <br />as income from Franchise Fees. She said yes. Based on that figure <br />he presented a basic sample budget. He suggested raising Admini- <br />sstrator Hansen's salary to $ 23,000 for full time work for 1987. <br />-3- <br />
