(National Association of Telecommunications Officers <br />and Advisors). The award was presented to Holly Hansen, Administrator of the <br />Lake Minnetonka Cable Communications Commission (LMCCC), by Brian Lamb, Chairman <br />of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of C-Span, at the N.A.T.O.A. annual <br />conference in Philadelphia, PA on September 22nd. <br />The entry submitted by the LMCCC contained excerpts of Lake Minnetonka News features <br />on the Gray Freshwater Biological Institute, playground construction at Manitou Park <br />in Tonka Bay, and city news items with co-anchors Dean Johnson and Beverly Meakins. <br />The Lake Minnetonka News is a monthly half- ,r new proram that began production <br />in April 1986 and is shown on the Dow -Sat Cable System on Channel 20. Each program <br />contains features of special interest and news itesm submitted by LMC�., member cities. <br />Regular contributors to the program have been the cities of Excelsior, Minnetrista, <br />Orono, Shorewood, Tonka Bay, and Victoria. Special features have been produced on <br />the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District (LMCD), Hennepin County Sheriff's Water <br />Patrol, Minnetonka Power Squadron, school bus safety, and local farmers and markets. <br />The Lake Minnetonka News is staffed by Cab1E Administrator Holly Hansen and Access <br />Assistant Jay Borne, but would not be possible without the volunteer help of area <br />residents. Regular volunteers on the program are Dean Johnson and Beverly Meakins <br />of Shorewood, Tim Wiley of Excelsior, Linda Paulsen of Mound, al,d Jack Hastings from <br />Minnetonka. Other volunteers who have contributed their efforts to the program include <br />Bernice Nixon, Jim Olds, Andy Scholl, and Judy Degnan of Excelsior, Lesley Hughes --Seamans <br />of Tonka Bay, and Sharon Conley of Plymouth. <br />The Lake Minnetonka News is currently run on the third Thursday of the month at <br />6:30 p.m. on Dow -Sat Cable Channel 20 and is repeated the following Saturday at 9:30 a.m. <br />
