TO: Mayor Tom Anderson, City of Medina <br />Council Members Anne Heideman <br />Robert Mitchell <br />William Reiser, Jr. <br />Wilfred Scherer <br />FROM: Mark Bernhardson, City Administrator��r� <br />Mel Kilbo, Chief of Police <br />DATE: October 7, 1986 <br />SUBJECT: Police Services - City of Medina <br />Attachments: A) Outline of Services <br />B) Examples of Deployment <br />C) Medina Police Presentation 9/23/86 (Revised) <br />D) 1985 Police Operations Dated 6/5/86 <br />The City of Orono is willing to enter into final negotiations for <br />contract police services with the City of Mec:ina with the <br />estimated cost for 1987 estimated of $272,000 not including <br />vehicles (less $16,000 revenue for Loretto patrol.) This would <br />provide for 24 hours in -town patrol services (less response to <br />other contract areas, vacations, sick leave, etc.) with 24 hour <br />emergency response and backup 365 days per year and other <br />services as outlined in attachment A. <br />Negotiations leading to a final agreement would address among <br />other issues the following: <br />a.) Level of In -town patrol <br />b.) Identity issues <br />c.) Equipment <br />d.) Commencement of services (1986-87) <br />e.) Community/Police access - i.e. substation, <br />communciations <br />If Medina desires to enter into a contractual arrangement upon <br />conclusion of negotiations and approval by the Orono Council, the <br />Cities could then undertake the appropriate agreements and <br />commencement of service. <br />Should further questions or issues arise following the meeting, <br />either of us would be happy of address them.
