INTEROFFICE MEMO <br />DATE: September 15, 1986 <br />TO: Jeanne Mabusth, Zoning Administrator <br />FROM: Chief Mtl Kilbo <br />SUBJECT: Day Care Center - Hwy. 12 & Luce Line <br />This department has some concerns about the proposed <br />day care center at Hwy. 12 and Luce Line. <br />The eastbound speed, 412 (east sign by Lakeside Liquor) is <br />45 mph. The speed of cars by the time they reach the Luce <br />Line is considerably higher. Further as you approach the <br />driveway from the west is obscured by the Luce Line bridge, <br />guard rails, and curve at Lindawood --the line of sight is <br />less than 750 feet. <br />Also from the east, there is a curve in Hwy. 12 that again <br />limits vision of entrance to less than 750 feet. Without <br />turn lanes, there is no place to stack cars making turns <br />into the day care driveway. <br />750 feet is the usual limit of visibility used by the State <br />to govern passing, hillcrests, and other maneuvers. <br />Hopefully, an entrance further to the east can be worked out. <br />
