Special consideration will be given to selecting plant <br />materials and garden features that will be of interest on a <br />year-round basis. Plant materials that hold fruit over <br />winter or with color or texture of interest in the winter <br />will be considered in <br />developing specific plai!s for projects to occur within the <br />formal garden area. <br />d. Manicured Grounds: The visitor, after spending time in the <br />formal garden, would then proceed to the manicured lawn <br />area. Characteristics of this area include: <br />o Mowed lawns under large canopy trees <br />o Shrub massings for color and texture <br />o Blankets of early blooming or shade tolerant flowers <br />in the lawn <br />o Crisp edges <br />o Paths and benches as architectural features <br />e. Natural Area: The visitor experience from the manicured <br />grounds then proceeds to the natural area at the edge of the <br />Estate. Characteristics include: <br />o Recreated forms of natural plant communities requiring <br />low ma4,iLenance <br />o Paths and observation platforms allowing viewing of the <br />Estate and Lake <br />An added benefit of this area of the site would be to provide <br />a vegetative and visual 'Duffer from the Lake channel and road <br />that it borders. <br />1r <br />
