Committee members were selected <br />from the following areas of interest: <br />o Horticulture o Individuals <br />i Recreation o Neighbors <br />o Friends of Mrs. Hoppe <br />o City of Orono <br />o Lake Minnetonka Community <br />The committee met as a whole on several occasions to carry out their <br />task. This report is a result of their concentrated effort and <br />represents general consensus of what the Committee determined best for <br />the District and for the citizens of the area while consistent with the <br />interpretations of Mrs. Hoppe's will. <br />The Committee's deliberations included the following: <br />o Review of Mrs. Hoppe's will and court -der and discussion of <br />how the Park could be developed and operated within the sp'!rit <br />of the will. <br />o Review of the 1978 Plan prepared for the Park <br />o Inventory of other gardens in the Metropolitan Area <br />o Discussion of poter•tial themes. <br />o Presentations by Ray Ford, the Noerenberg's Gardener, and Arla <br />Lindberg, currently the gardener for the Hennepin Co,nty Park <br />Reserve District at the park regarding their percc)tion of <br />current operations and future development. <br />o Review of the history and importance of estate gardens in the <br />Lake Minnetonka area and Eddie Phelps role in the planning and <br />development of these gardens. <br />10 <br />
