OFFICIAL SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE NUMBER 22, JE:COND SERIES <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 5.25 SHOWS AND LARGE ASSEMBLIES <br />AND 6.08 PARADES AND SPECIAL EVENTS <br />Th_ following is the official summary of Ordinance <br />Number 22, Second series approved b ie City Council of the City <br />of Orono on March 10, 1986. <br />The following is new language added to Section 6.08 <br />Parades and Special Events and Section 5.25 Shows and Large <br />Assemblies: <br />Section 6.08 Parades and Special Events <br />Suhd. 1. Definition. <br />A. "Parade" means any movement of vehicles, persons or <br />animals, or any combination thereof, which either moves together <br />as a body so as to impede or affect the free and unobstructed <br />flow of vehicular or pedestrian traffic, or which moves so that <br />some part thereof is in violation of one or more traffic laws or <br />regulations. <br />B. "Special Event" means any marathon -un, block party, <br />fishing contest, parachute jump, hot-air balloon event, carnival, <br />or any other activity or event which in some way impedes or <br />affects the Free and unobstructed flow of vehicular or pedestrain <br />traffic, generates parking needs for more than 20 vehicles off <br />site at any one time on resic:antial streets, not including a <br />public access to Lake Mi.inetonka, or requires the postir;g of "No <br />Parking" signs to maintain compliance with traffic laws and <br />regulations. <br />SulA. 2. Permit Required. A permit shall be obtained <br />from the City by any person, corporation, or other entity who <br />will t,e holding or sponsoring a parade or special event. <br />Application for such permit shall be made to the City at least <br />sixty (60) days in advance of the date on which the parade or <br />special event is to occur Mess waived by the Council. The <br />applicant shall fill out a form provided by the City, stating the <br />sponsoring organization or individual, the route or location, the <br />time or commencement, termination and the general composition. <br />The application shall be executed by the individual applying <br />therefore or the duly authorized agent or representative or the <br />sponsoring organization. The permit requirements set forth in <br />this section apply in addition to any licensing requairements set <br />fn-th in Section 5.25 of this ordinance. <br />K <br />
