Zoning File #1014 <br />May 7, 1986 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />At the time the Board plans to restore the remaining hazardous <br />structures, building plans must be submitted to assure that standards <br />of the uniform building code and state fire code are met. Before the <br />facility can be reopened for public use, the Board must apply for <br />conditional use permits for Day Recreation Camp and Overnight Camping <br />Use. <br />Issues Raised During Planning Commission's Review <br />1 - Approximate number of workers involved in clean up - workers <br />cannot bring family members along because hazardous - unsafe <br />conditions still remain on the site <br />2 - Advise how meals are to be provided - kitchen area and dining <br />hall cannot be used - portable gas stoves and charcoal grills can <br />be used - no recreational or cooking fires allowed. <br />3 - Designate temporary toilet facil.4cy to be used - Gaffron to <br />inspect. <br />4 - Remaining hazardous buildings cannot be used foi sleeping <br />quarters - tenting allowed only. <br />5 - Hazardous buildings not planned for removal t remain <br />boarded up during clean up. <br />6 - Determine time period request for cle n up - permit to be <br />written for specified period of time. <br />7 - Fire extinguishers must be provided on site during clean up <br />period. <br />8 - Provide a repair schedule for hazardous buildings that are <br />to remain <br />9 - flow shall garbage collection be provided for at temporary <br />camp site. <br />Planning Commission Recommendation <br />Approve a conditional use permit, from May 15, 1986 through <br />September 1, 1986, for the temporary overnight camping of work crew <br />at the Big Island Veterans Camp facility subject to the following <br />conditions that would establish guidelines for the safe use of the <br />facility during the clean up period defined as covering the following <br />activities: <br />1 - Razinq and burning of buildings <br />2 - Clean up and burninq of debris/brush <br />
