And of course there are the swimming, fishing and <br />playground for the kids at the camp. The camp is so close yet seems <br />so far away", says Mark. <br />To get to the camp you may take the MTC bus or drive to the <br />Excelsior public docks and ride the Camp's pontoon ferry boat to the <br />island. The ferry operates at 9:30 a.m. and 6:00 i.m. on weekends, <br />and by appointment on week days. Just call 474-1958. <br />"Such a camp actually owned jointly by all the veterans of the <br />state and accessable only by boat is probably unique in the nation", <br />says Dora Peterson, chairperson of the P.R. committee for tha <br />Veteran's Board of Governors. <br />According to the Board of Governors, "there will be a nominal <br />registration fee at first until we see what our costs are and how our <br />fundraising is going." The camp has an ongoing need for donations <br />of labor, material and funds.
