Zoning File 01277 <br />Page 2 <br />Mork Crew - Conditional ttse Permit (Effective May 23, 1988 through July 1, <br />1988) - The applicant seeks r^ne4al of the work crew permit that would <br />allow them to remove all final haz4.lous conditions on the site. 32 of the <br />-.3 structures have been removed, the :--maining 11 excluding the caretaker <br />mouse and the buildings defined as storage structures must be boarded up <br />and secured prior to opening to the public. Debris from the razed/burned <br />structures must be removed or put in an approved burying area. The debris <br />not to be buried must. be secured with fencing and screened from public way. <br />The job of the work crew will be to prepare the camp for the ope-ing to the <br />public for day use re,:reation. <br />Resolution 198b, enclosed for your consideration, lists the special <br />conditions unuer which the work crews operated in previous years. Staff <br />will amend the original conditions of that resolution to more fit the <br />project for this years work crew. The conditions recommendel are as <br />follows: <br />1. Crew to be limited to 57 workers - family members and friends are <br />not to be on camp site for the duration of the temporary permit. <br />2. Workers shall use portable gas stoves and charcoil grills for <br />cooking - open burning to be approved by Orono Fire inspector. <br />3. Tenting is allowed only for work crews. The authorized caretaker <br />Mark Peterson, shall be the only person to remain permanently on site <br />for the duration of the temporary permit. <br />4. The facility shall be inspected by the Orono staff on a regular <br />basis during the clean up program. <br />5. Hazardous buildings are not to be occupied by work crews but are <br />to remain boarded up and secured from public. <br />6. Fire extinguishers must be prodded on site. <br />7. Two septic facilit ies/st.ructures have been approved for use by <br />the work crews and are defined as the South Hill (Point Charming <br />Structure) and the Peanut Row facility, per Section 46 30.0900 of the <br />State Health Code. A single shower must be provided for men and women <br />based on 57 crew members The water sure Iv has been apr roved by the <br />Orono Staff and awaits state certification. <br />8. Provide a current Certificate of Insurance coverage. <br />9. Materials not able to be burned or buried wil 1 be stored in an <br />area approved by the Orono staff until "ice in", at which time the <br />debris will be hauled off the island. This site must be screened and <br />secured from members of the public who will be using the island at <br />some future time. <br />10. The camp shall be limited to two rermenant slips at the r ' --ting <br />dock for camp boats and six transient slips for workers. Arp. .an*. <br />must have LNCD permit for the 1988 season. <br />11. The clean up program shall be limited to the following <br />activities: <br />A. Cleaning, grading, and seeding of al 1 areas disturbed with <br />burning and razing of old structures. <br />B. Clean up and burning of debris/brush. <br />C. The burning of approved debris in the approved defined area <br />by tae Orono staff. <br />D. The building o irproved structures required for the opening <br />of the camp for day .se recreation, ie. ricnic structures. <br />
