Ri-,MLAR MEETING OF THE ORONO COUNCIL, JUNE 29, 1978 <br />Page 12 <br />Planning Commission Meeting - June 12, 1978 <br />Public information r-ieeting held - no Public response. <br />Planning Commission recommends approval of conditional <br />use permit expansion for new building addition as <br />proposed subject to on -site system compliance as <br />noted in letter by (like Gaffron dated June 1, 1978. <br />Council Meeting - June 29, 1978 <br />Mrs. hock, Mrs. Johnston, and Mr. Avchen, architect, <br />were present to discuss their application. It <br />was noted that there was no one representing property <br />owners present to hear this particular proposal. <br />Mayor Van Nest and the individual Councilmembers <br />voiced concerns with increased traffic and parking <br />problems, and also future expansion that might <br />overwhelm the area in the ensuing years if this <br />proposed addition is approved. <br />Mrs. Hock commente3 that this proposed addition <br />would add 150 students a week to our present 850 <br />students per week. <br />Mayor Van Nest commented that it would seers <br />reasonable to request a traffic projection and <br />estimated volumes study including solutions and <br />also some means to control future expansion. <br />Paurus moved, Mayor Van Nest seconded, to approve <br />the conditional use permit for the Minnetonka <br />Center of Arts & Education, 2240 North Shore Drive, <br />subject to: <br />1. Staff to draft conservation easement or some <br />other vehicle to preclude future additional <br />buildings or expansion. <br />2. Applicant to submit traffic projections and <br />estimated volume report, including approved <br />parking solution by the City Council. <br />3. Planning Commission recommendation on compliance <br />to septic system requirements. <br />Motion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0). <br />Mr. Alan Olson, City Planner, entered into the <br />record the variance request of John Uran, Big <br />Island, dated flay 17, 1978, which states: <br />The applicant wishes to construct a new home on <br />Big Island. The property consists of seven separate <br />parcels under common ownership surrounded by platted <br />u,,developed public roads.
