RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL � <br /> ��SKO4� � rvo. 4 6 � � . <br /> � A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE PARAMETERS <br /> OF THE CITY OF ORONO'S PARTICIPATION IN THE <br /> BUILDING OF A NEW FIRE STATION TO HOUSE THE <br /> LONG LAKE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orono,Minnesota, as follows: <br /> Section 1. BACKGROUND. <br /> 1.01. The Long Lake Fire Station needs to be replaced because it is being acquired by Mn/DOT <br /> as right-of-way for the Highway 12 upgrade project. . <br /> 1.02. Mn/DOT will provide funding in the amount of$2.488 million for construction costs; plus <br /> additional funding for land costs, site preparation costs, etc.;to construct a replacement fire <br /> station. <br />. • 1.03. The City of Orono believes a facility adequate to meet the needs of the Long Lake <br /> Volunteer Fire Department(LLVFD),now and well into the future, can be constructed with the <br /> funding provided by Mn/DOT,with proper design and construction oversight. <br /> 1.04. The outstanding issues related to the building of the fire station must not stand in the way <br /> of obtaining the funds from Mn/DOT. . <br /> 1.05. The preservation of a positive, cooperative relationship between the Cities of Long Lake <br /> and Orono is of major importance. Reopening old conflicts is in no one's interest. <br /> 1.06. The building of the fire station must not delay the Highway 12 construction timetable. <br /> 1.07. The Fire Chief,the Architect, and the Cities must be committed to working to find ways to <br /> minimize costs while meeting the identified facility needs. A proper cost/value relationship must <br /> . be established. � <br /> 1.08. Issues related to the ownership of the fire station must be resolved to the satisfaction.of <br /> the three cities. <br /> • <br />
