Since there is 1. ivate <br />property on the islands within the City's boundries that have <br />no existing land access it does cause problems and we have <br />taken appropriate land use measures to attempt to limit our <br />service problems, particularly as they relate to Big Island. <br />4. The City of Orono is presently reviewing, and has been <br />doing so over the last several months, the Task Force <br />recommendations regarding implementation. Since Orono <br />possess one of the two major access sites the principal issue <br />at tnis point is securing of parking as it exists nea .he <br />public access sites for off lake residents including a large <br />number of potential users from Orono. The balance of the <br />recommendations deal with improvement of the status quo and <br />the City is not actively undertaken those at this point <br />pending resolution of the significant public cress issues <br />and the directions undertaken by other lak,= communities. <br />5. Principal harrier to implementation of the status quo <br />recommendations has been neighborhood rt.sistence to commit <br />the parking spats because of the attendant problems with off - <br />site parking related to the access such as trespassing, <br />vandalism, etc. Additionally there is concern that to th- <br />+extent there is incr�-ased uti t ization of the lake without <br />2 <br />
