DRAFT RESPONSE: <br />TO LAKE MINNETONKA TASK EOKC:: <br />1. The City of Orono has approximately 1/4 of the total shore- <br />line around Lake Minnetonka together with hG ng significant <br />islands that it governs ithin the lake (particularly Big <br />Island and Deering Island) It has been a leader in efforts <br />to regulate land use o,: the abutting shoreline together with <br />it's upland areas in o Jer to preserve and protect the water <br />quality of Lake Minnet ika. Additionally it is utilizied its <br />statutory authority to overn commercial marinas, joint docks <br />and other usages on the lake and in conjunction with LMCD has <br />worked to ccoperate to make the lake a safer and natural <br />recreational resource for both Orono residents and the public_ <br />at large. <br />2. It is noted in it prior response the City's critical interests <br />are working to -prove the lake's quality together with the <br />safety for all users of the 1,ike. <br />3. In addition to land use considerations to protect both the <br />quality and access to the 1 ako together attends it concerns <br />regarding parking, pedestrian safety, trespassing and etc., <br />related issues include law enforr-ement both near acctrss sites <br />and although have a lima l capability in the sommer when we <br />
