City of ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />NO. <br />A ORDERING ABATEMENT OF <br />HAZARD0'k BUILDING ACTION AT BIG ISLAND <br />VETERAN'S CAMP - RESTROOM BUILDING HILL AREA, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporati(-n <br />crganized and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and <br />WHEREAS, Board of Governers-Big Island Veterans Camp,c/o <br />Cider of the Purple Heart, 208 Veterans Service Building, St. Paul, MN <br />55155, has an interest; and <br />WHEREAS, State of Minnesota, Centenial Building, St. Paul, <br />Minnesota 55102, is the fee owner of record of property located at Big <br />Island Veteran's Camp, Orono, Minnesota, herein ref%rred to as Big <br />Island Veteran's Camp, and legally described as follows: <br />Lot 2 Unplatted 23-117-23 21 0001 <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orone, having duly <br />considered the matter pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 463.15 <br />to 463.261, hereby finds that the above described Restroom Building <br />Hill area is unhabitable and contains unsanitary and hazardous <br />conditions which constitute a public nuisance and which makes this <br />property hazardous to the public r-alth, safety and welfare based on <br />the following findings: <br />1. <br />Electrical wiring is in <br />a state of disrepair ,d is a <br />potential fire hazard. <br />2. <br />Floors and wall surface <br />does not <br />have non-absorbant <br />material. <br />3. <br />Foundation is poor, pier <br />footings, <br />and no motor between <br />concrete blocks. <br />4. <br />Exterior walls has paint <br />peeling <br />and rotten spots at <br />bottom of wall. <br />5. <br />Roof possibly leaks and <br />contains <br />old shingles. <br />6. Window screens are torn. <br />7. All facets leak. <br />S. Water piping from well from dining hall is above <br />ground. <br />— Plumbing is not provided with vents. <br />10.
