procedure is not to be construed as eliminating from competition other pro- <br />ducts of equal or better quality by other manufacturers where fully suitable <br />in design unless otherwise specifically stated in the Specifications (see <br />Section 8.2 for substitution procedure). If a product referenced by catalogue <br />name or number is no longer available, Contractor shall recotimend to Owner and <br />Engineer another product of comparable quality. <br />9.7.2 The Contractor shall furnish the complete list of proposed desired sub- <br />stitutions prior to executing the Agreement, together with such engineering <br />and Product Data as the Engineer may require. <br />8.7.3 The Contractor shall abide by the Engineer's recommendation when pro- <br />posed substitute materials or items of equipment are not recommended for in- <br />stallation an-i shall furnish the specified material or item of equipment in <br />such case. All proposals for substitutions shall be submitted in writing by <br />the General Contractor and not by individual trades or material suppliers. <br />The Engineer will review proposed substitutions and make his recotmendation in <br />writing within a reasonable time. <br />9.8 SHOP DRAWINGS <br />8.8.1 The Contractor shall provide Shop Drawings, settings, schedules and <br />such other drawings as may be necessary for the prosecution of the Work in the <br />shop and in the field as required by the Drawings, Specifications or Engi- <br />neer's instructions. Deviations from the Drawings and Specifications shall be <br />called to th attention of the Engineer at the time of the first submission of <br />Shop Drawings and other drawings for approval. The Engineer's review of any <br />drawings shall not release the Contractor from responsibility for such devia- <br />tions. <br />8.8.2 Shop Drawings shall be promptly submitted by the Contractor after he <br />has reviewed, checked and approved the data to determine that they are in <br />harmony with tiie requirements of the Project and with the provisions of the <br />Contract Documents and afar he has verified all field measurements and con- <br />struction criteria, mat- 9, catalog numbers and similar data. By submit- <br />ting the Shop Drawings, Contractor certifies that the work represented by <br />the Shop Drawings has been coordinated with the Contract Documents and all <br />relevant field conditions. <br />8.8.3 Shop Drawings shall be submitted according to the following schedule: <br />(a, Not less than three copies or such other number of copies as may be <br />required by the Special Provisions shall be submitted with reasonable prompt- <br />ness and in such sequence as to prevent delay of the Work. <br />(h) The Engineer shall, within fourteen (14) days of the submittal of any <br />Shop Drawings, return ono copy to the Contractor marked with Engineer's com- <br />ments. <br />(c) The ContricLor shall then promptly make any necet-saev corrections or <br />changes to the Shop Drawings to conform to the comments made by the Engineeâ–º. <br />29 <br />1/85 - 8Sosh <br />Copyright IyRs <br />Bonestroo, Rosene, Andersik <br />_`_AsEacia es.
