KM <br />SPECIAL. PROVISIONS <br />1. PROJECT DESCRIPTi0N: This project provides for the bituminous leveling <br />and bituminous surfacing on Willow Drive from Fox Street to the Burlington <br />Northern Railroad bridge and Old Crystal Hay Road from County Road 6 to County <br />Road 84. <br />2. OWNER: 1"oe City of Orono is designated as the Owner. The work as <br />outlined herein is on public: right-of-way or on easements obtained by the <br />Owner. <br />3. COMPLETION DATE: It is desired that the entire project be completed as <br />`c soon as possible. The project shall begin on or before August 1, 1985, and be <br />completed by October 5, 1985. <br />M 4. LIQUTUATED DAMAGES: Liquidated damages as specified in the Conditions of <br />1 the Contract shall be One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) per calendar day. <br />w 5. SPECIFICATION REFERENCE: Where the Minnesota Department of Transportation <br />specifications are referred to herein and where a reference to the word <br />kl "State" is mentioned, it is understood that the word "Owner" is substituted. <br />All reference to the word "Engineer" shall be interpreted as the Engineer for <br />the City of Orono. Minnesota Department of Transportation Specifications for <br />f` Highway Construction, 1983 Edition and revisions t-'•ereto shall apply except as <br />noted herein. <br />6. TRAFFIC: Traffic control shall be the responsibility of the contractor. <br />The contractor shall be responsible- for maintaining traffic on the streets at <br />all times. <br />Flagmen, bnrri,•ades, flashers, signs and all other necessary safety measures <br />are the sole responsibility of the contractor and shall be incidental to the <br />road construction. All traffic control devices shall be in accordance with <br />js! the "Minnesota Uniform 'Traffic Control Manual." <br />1 7. TESTS: All material test.e required in the specifications shall be paid <br /># for by the City. This does not eliminate the contracte.r's responsibility of <br />assisting the Engineer by notification of pit and scale location and other <br />correlated items in advance of the starting time so that adequate control <br />1 measures can be established. <br />M <br />Test failures shall he retested at the contractor's expense. <br />t <br />8. SCALE: The contractor shall provide the necessary scale and scale person <br />fur weighing the items furnished on a ton hasis under these specifications. <br />The scale setup is subject to the approval of the Engineer. The necessary <br />weights used in testing the scale shall be provided by the contractor. <br />9. PRE -CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE: Prior to starting work, the ..ontractor shall <br />S meet with the Engineer to discuss the method and means of supply, a work <br />(� schedule as to construction phases and a general review of the plans and <br />specifications. <br />1 <br />r <br />SP-1 <br />0-80 74 c <br />
