Benson, Termination of Employment Contract <br />Attached are copies of Walter R. Benson's June 3, 1985, letters <br />to PERA and the City 'ouncilmembers regarding the termination of <br />his employment contract with the City of Orono effective June 10, <br />1985. Also attached is a copy of Mr. Benson's employment <br />contract with the City of Orono. <br />Under item 4 of the employment contract Mr. Benson has the option <br />of terminating the agreement at will upon five working days <br />written notice, with the balance of the monthly payments to be <br />payable in a lump sum within sixty days. Since the inception of <br />the contract the City has paid Mr. Benson for 4.5 months or <br />$1,485.00 of the 75 month agreement. Therefore, the City will <br />remit to Mr. Benson the balance of 70.5 months at $330.00 per <br />month, or $23,265.00 on or before August 9, 1985. <br />Mr. Benson has requested payment of the balance within thirty <br />days, if Council approves Mr. Benson's request, payment will be <br />scheduled f::- the July 8, 1985 agenda, if there is sufficient <br />cash on hand. Otherwise payment will be made by August 9, 1985. <br />
