Y <br />Planning Commission <br />City of Orono <br />Box 66 <br />Crystal Bay, MN 55323 <br />I am in receipt of a notice published May 6, 1985 concerning the <br />request for a variance by the owners of the property at 2696 Ethel <br />Avenue (Kauffmann No. 914). <br />I have reviewed the proposed plan for the improvements at this <br />address in the Orono City office. Based upon my review it appears <br />the proposed house does not conform to the average set back <br />ordinance. It is constructed in such 3 way that it will destroy <br />all privacy which previously existed on the lake side of my <br />residence at 2691 Caroline Avenue. <br />Also, the proposed improvement is not in conformity with the other <br />homes along the Carmans Bay snoreline. it is my understanding that <br />the ordinance was designed to provide each home in the area with <br />maximum relative privacy in the lake view areas. The plans do not <br />show a deck and I would also expect that the house would have a <br />deck which would further reduce the privacy at my house and other <br />homes on the shoreline. <br />I have no objection to the construction on the premises but I do <br />believe that it shculd be set back at least 35 feet from the present <br />proposed •ation so as to lie in conformity with the other homes cn <br />the lake re and not interfere with the view or privacy of these <br />homes.
