Method 2 -Cut Stump Treatment <br />l. Cut stump treatment shall be used on buckthorn with trunks greater than l .5" measured at <br />ground level. <br />2. Cut buckthorn as close as possible to ground level and mark with colored wire flag for <br />future identification and treatment. <br />3. Apply glyphosate, Garton or Rodeo chemical herbicide to cut stump surface, bark <br />exposed above ground, and roots exposed above ground using paint brush, wick <br />applicator or low-volume sprayer. Glyphosate, Garton or Rodeo chemical herbicide to be <br />minimum strength of I 0.0%. <br />Method 3 -Girdling (Frill Cut) Treatment <br />I. Girdling treatment may be used on buckthorn with trunks greater than 3" measured at <br />ground level. <br />2. Cut a frill around entire circumference of trunk as close as possible to ground level. <br />3. Apply glyphosate, Garlon, or Rodeo chemical treatment to entire frill cut and adjacent <br />bark surface using paint brush , wick applicator or low-volume sprayer. Glyphosate , <br />Gari on or Rodeo chemical herbicide to be minimum strength of 10.0%. <br />HERBICIDE NOTES <br />Garton and Ortho Brush-B-Gon <br />Active ingredient is Tryclopyramine. <br />Mix with water for cut s tump, frill, and foliar applications. <br />Apply immediately afte r cut stump and frill. <br />Glyphosate <br />Glyphosate is the active ingredient in Roundup . <br />Mix with water for cut stump, frill, and foliar applications. <br />IO to 20% active ingredient is required for cut s tump and frill method s. <br />3% active ingredient is required for foliar application. <br />Apply within 24 hours of the cut stump a nd frill. <br />Water based chemical. <br />Rodeo is a g lyphosate product for aquatic use. <br />Use on plants within wetlands a nd within 10-ft of wetland edges. <br />Use the sa me rate as outlined above for glyphosate. <br />COMMOM/GLOSSY BUC KTHORN CONTROL PLAN-Page 2 of2 <br />Kjolhaug Environmental Service s
