Page 3 <br />its design, amend the environmental assessment, and to offer severa <br />new alternates to the existing engineering report from 1971. <br />June 1976: The addendum to the engineering report for the Orono -L <br />Lake interceptor was published showing four new alternate designs f <br />the interceptor as well as three of the old designs from the 1971 <br />report. Alternate A was supported by the City in that the routing <br />was more conducive to serving the area of the City which was to be <br />in the urban service area and four small areas along the route of <br />the interceptor where prior development had created the need for <br />sewer connection. The City objected to the flows projected <br />by the addendum to the engineering report as well as the sewer serti <br />area it- ` proposed to serve. <br />August 1976: The Hetropolitan Council approved a staff report datee <br />July 27, 1976, which approved the addendum to the engineering repos <br />subject to the removal of Maple Plain, Independence Beach, Baker <br />Park, and -the area of the proposed Vo -Tech School from the designat <br />sewer service area. _ <br />October 1976: The City of Orono adopted. a Comprehensive Sewer <br />Plan which was consitent with its Comprehensive Land Use Plan as <br />adopted in the fall of 1974. This plan clearly delineated the flow: <br />required from the City of Orono through the year 2000 and also sho% <br />the area of the City that was to be contained within the service <br />area of the Orono -Long Lake interceptor. <br />l November 10, 1976: The Metropolitan Waste Control Commission conducted a <br />public hearing on the addendum to the engineering report for the <br />Orono -Long Lake interceptor . <br />
