PROCEEDINGS SUMMARY, 1992 LAKE ACCESS TASK FORCE STUDY <br />STANDARDS SUBCOMNIITTEE ACTIONS <br />FACILITATOR ENGAGED. The LMCD engaged a state facilitator to meet the diverse <br />interests involved in the proceedings: <br />1. Decisions would result from a consensus. <br />2. Persons participating would only be those holding designated membership in <br />the Task Force. <br />3. The Task Force would work in good faith. <br />TASK ASSIGNMENTS: <br />1. MN DNR staff examined c/t parking spaces in public access ramp lots. <br />2. LMCD staff counted street parking utilizing 1985 c/t parking criteria, adjusting <br />criteria by extending distance from access site from 1,500' to 2,000'. <br />3. Aerial photographs of public access sites taken. <br />4. DNR/LMCD staff drafted parking space standards from the 1986 standards <br />previously considered. <br />TASK ASSIGNMENT RESULTS: <br />C/T PARKING INVENTORY OF 7/15/93. A street inventory of actual and potential c/t <br />parking spaces up to 2,000' from accesses was conducted. Potential spaces included future <br />public access sites, one private lot, public lots in other agency jurisdictions (school districts) <br />and street locations subject to city/county approval. <br />A surveyor wheel measurement device was used to calculate an accurate 50' c/t parking space <br />and for determining accurate distance from the launch ramp. Results of the inventory count <br />of 7/15/92 were: <br />C/T Parking Spaces at present or planned access ramps: <br />North Arm 63 <br />Grays Bay 101 Causeway 37 <br />Grays Bay Dam 19 <br />Kings. Point, DNR 32 <br />Spring Park Ramp 19 <br />Spring Park/Orono County Lot 70 <br />Hennepin Regional Park 100 <br />Sub Total 340 <br />Potential C/T Parking Space Additions: <br />Streets, city & county 82 <br />Off street, private & city 86 <br />Sub Total 168 <br />Existing Street Availability: <br />City/county 337 <br />(99 of the 337 at Williams <br />Street, Halsted Bay access) <br />GRAND TOTAL 845 <br />Page 29 281 <br />
