• "HOLDING TANK" A water tight tank for storage of sewage until <br />it can be transported to an off -site -point of disposal. <br />"IMPERMEABLE" With regards to bedrock, a bedrock having no <br />cracks or crevices and having a vertical permeability less <br />than one inch in 24 hours shall be considered impermeable. <br />With -regard to soils, a soil horizon or layer having a vertical <br />permeability less than one inch in 24 hours shall be considered <br />impermeable. <br />"INDIVIDUAL ON-SITE SEWAGE TREATMENT SYSTEM" A sewage treatment <br />system including the building sewer, septic tanks, and soil <br />absorption area, or part thereof, serving a dwelling or any <br />building or place, which utilizes soil treatment and disposal. <br />"MOTTLING" A soil condition of chemical oxidation and reduction <br />activity, appearing as. splotchy patches of red, brown, orange <br />and grey. <br />"MOUND SYSTEM" A on-site sewage treatment system where the <br />soi treatment area is built above the -existing ground. <br />"NEW SYSTEM" Any individual on-site sewage treatment system <br />. -to be installed, constructed,.altered, or repaired. <br />"OFFICIAL SOIL MAP" The Orono Soil Development Guide Map <br />prepared by the Hennepin'County Soil Conservation District and <br />available at the City Hall for reference). <br />"PERCOLATION RATE" The time rate of drop of a water surface in <br />a test hole as specified in the Code. <br />"_PLASTIC LIMIT" A soil moistur--e content below which the soil <br />maybe manipulated for purposes of installing a soil treatment <br />system, and above which manipulation will cause compaction and <br />puddling.
