The occasion is the dedication of a marker in Mound by the Minnesota <br />Historical Society and the local Westonka Historical Society. The marker <br />designates Lake Minnetonka a state historical site, and will be erected at the <br />Mound Depot, where the program will take place. <br />Activities surrounding the 40-minute dedication ceremony include food, music by <br />the Westonka High School band, decorations and an historic art, artifact and <br />photograph display in the depot. Brief comments by Russ Fridley, Director of <br />Minnesota Historical Society; Mayor Bob Polston of Mound; Buzz Sykes, President <br />of Westonka Historical Society; and one or two other concerned officials will <br />comprise the dedicatory program, which we hope Roger Eri wl of Boone and <br />Erickson, WCCO Radio, will emcee. <br />We're planning to introduce such notables as Mayors and Council Members from <br />other Lake Minnetonka cities, Hennepin County Commissioner Bud Robb, Congressmen <br />Bill Frenzel and Gerry Sikorski, and others we can't now name until we know for <br />sure who's coming to our party. <br />In any event, we expect a great crowd of notables from the area and we will <br />introduce for a greeting those who attend. Please call Dorothy at 296-9552 to <br />let us know who will attend from your city. We'll have a chair on the platform <br />for your top representative.
