COUNCIL MEETIdI <br />NOV 1 3 1984 <br />INTEROFFICE MEMO 84-161 <br />CITY OF ORONO <br />DATE: October 31, 1984 <br />TO: Orono City Council <br />FROM: Melvin Kilbo, Chief of Police <br />SUBJECT: Salary Increase <br />I am requesting an interim raise for Police Secretary <br />Sue Sobzien. Her first year ended August 15, 1984 and <br />she has become a valuable employee. She has an excellent <br />public relations outlook and has taken all necessary training. <br />She also has training in use of word processors. She is <br />currently at hourly rate of $7.53 and I request she be raised <br />to $7.83 at this time. This raise to be effective 11-19-84. <br />I also request an increase for Carol Hansing, Our part-time <br />secretary. She is an excellent fill-in person, and an <br />ambitious worker. She has a reputation for her work so <br />that other departments call to ask for her to work for them. <br />She is now at $6.00 an hour, and I request she be raised to <br />$6.24. This raise to be effective also on 11-19-84. <br />Salaries need to be competitive, so that skilled employees <br />can be retained. I request this interim raise be granted. <br />
