SECTION 8 <br />INSURANCE, LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY <br />PUBLIC SAFETY AND MISCELLANEOUS <br />8.1 INSURANCE <br />8.1.1 General: The Contractor shall not commence work under this <br />contract until he has obtained all insurance required under ti,is Section <br />and shall have filed tho certificate of insurance or the certified ropy of <br />the insurance policy with the Owner and Engineer. The Contractor shall <br />not allow any Subcontractor to commence work on his subcontract until all <br />insurance required for the Subcontractor has been obtained. Each <br />insurance policy shall contain a clause providing that it shall not be <br />cancelled by the insurance company without ten (10) days written notice to <br />the Owner and Engineer of intent to cancel. <br />Certificates of insurance shall be submitted on Standard Form C.I.C.C.-701 <br />or ACORD 25 forms and shall specifically note the clause providing for 10 <br />day written notice to the Owner. and Engineer of intent to cancel. <br />8.1.2 Workmen's Compensation S Employer Liability Insurance: The <br />Contractor shall secure and maintain during the life of this Contract, <br />Workman's Compensation and Employer's Liability Insurance as required by <br />law for all his employees to be engaged directly or indirectly in the work <br />on the project under this Contract. In case any work is sublet, the <br />Contractor shall require the Subcontractor to similarly provide Workmen's <br />Compensation and Employer's Liability Insurance for all the latter's <br />employees to be engaged directly or indirectly in such work. The <br />Contractor shall also maintain insurance required under any other Employee <br />Benefit Acts in force or required by law at the site of construction. <br />8.1.3 Contracto- Comprehensive General 6 Automobile Liability: The <br />Contractor shall procure and maintain during the life of this Contract, <br />Contractor's Comprehensive General and Automobile Liability Insurance <br />which shall protect him from claims fo; damages for personal injury, <br />including accidental depth, as well as from claims for property damage <br />which may arise from operations under this contract, whether such <br />operations be by himself or by any Subcontractor or by anyone directly or <br />indirectly employed by either of them.
