am <br />6.3 PRIVATE PROPERTY <br />r <br />The Contrac^or shall <br />not enter Ripon private property for any purpose without <br />obtaining permission <br />from the 0,,,:c thereof, and <br />he shall be responsible for <br />the preservation of <br />all public property, trees, <br />monuments, etc., along and <br />+n <br />adjacent to the street <br />and/or right-of-way, and <br />shall use every precaution <br />necessary to prevent <br />damage or injury thereto. <br />He shall protect carefully <br />from disturbance or <br />damage all monuments and <br />property marks until an <br />authorized agent has <br />witnessed or otherwise referenced their location and <br />shall not remove them <br />until directed. <br />6.4 SURVEYS r�► <br />Unless otherwise specified, the Owner shall establish all base lines for the <br />location of the principal component parts of the Work together with a suitable ••, <br />number of bench marks adjacent to the Work. Based upon the information <br />provided by the Owner, the Contractor shall develop and make all detail <br />surveys necessary for construction, including batter boa-.-ds, stakes for pile <br />locations and other working points, lines and elevations. The Contractor <br />shall be responsible for carefully preserving bench marks, reference points ^� <br />and stakes, and, in the case of destruction thereof resulting from his <br />negligence or otherwise, the Contractor shall be charged with the expense and '+1 <br />damage resulting therefrom and shall be responsible for any mistakes that may <br />be caused by the unnecessary loss or disturbance of such bench marks, <br />reference points and stakes. <br />6.5 UTILITIES <br />The contractor shall be solely responsible for verifying the exact location of i <br />all utilities. Prior to the start of any construction, the Contractor shall <br />notify all utility compcnies having utilities in the Project area. The <br />Contractor shall have sole responsibility for providing temporary support and «+ <br />for protecting and maintaining all existing utilities in the Project area <br />during the entire period of construction, including but not limited to the <br />period of excavation, backfill and compaction. In carrying out this <br />responsibility, the Contractor shall exercise particular care, whenever gas <br />mains or other utility lines are crossed, to provide compacted backfill or <br />other stable support for such lines to prevent any detrimental displacement, <br />rupture or other failure. <br />6.6 INVESTIGATIONS <br />Reference is made to the Specifications for identification of those reports of <br />investigsti:-ns and tests of subsurface and latent physical conditiona at the <br />site or oth:-i-wise affecting cost-, progress or performance of the Work which <br />have been relied upon by Engineer ii: preparation of the Drawings and <br />Specifications. Such reports are not guaranteed as to accuracy or v <br />completeness and are not part of the Contract Documents. <br />r� <br />V <br />�3'�i25a <br />
