05500.6. FABRICATION: <br />05500.6.1. General: Use materia;s of size and thickness shown or, if not <br />shown, of required size and thickness to produce strength and durability in .. <br />the finished product. Work to dimensions shown or accepted on the Shop <br />Drawings, using proven details of fabrication and support. <br />Weld corners and sea--!! continuously, complying with AWS recommendations. At <br />exposed connections, grind exposed welds smooth and flush; match and blend <br />with adjoining surfaces. <br />Form exposes; connections with hairline ioints, flush and smooth, using <br />concealed fasteners wherever possible. Use exposed fasteners of type shown <br />or, if not shown, use Phillips flat -head (countersunk) screws or bolts. .� <br />Provide for anchorage of the type shown. Coordinate with supporting <br />structure. Fabricate and space the anchoring devices to provide adequate <br />support for intended use. <br />05500.7. MISCELLANEOUS METAL FABRICATIONS: <br />05500.7.1. Pipe Railings: Pipe railings and handrails shall be provided as <br />required by the drawings. Railings shall have a top rail 3'-6" above the ramp <br />floor. Horizontal mid rails shall be 7'Y" on center with standards or brackets <br />spaced not more than 6'-0" on center. Railings shall be made up of 1Y' <br />diameter steel pipe. Necessary floor brackets, wall brackets and end caps on <br />exposed ends of pipe shall be furnished and installed. The railing shall have <br />a steel toe guard as per plan details. <br />05500.8. INSTALLATION: <br />05500.8.1. Fasten;ng to Tn-place Construction: Provide anchorage devices and <br />fasteners where necessary for securing miscellaneous metal fabrications to in - <br />place construction including threaded fasteners for concrete inserts, toggle <br />bolts, through -bolts, lag bolts, wood screws, and other connectors as required. <br />05500.8.2. Cutting Fitting and Placement: Perform cutting, drilling, and <br />fitting required for installation of miscellaneous metal fabrications. Grind <br />exposed joints smooth, and touch up shop paint coat. Grind exposed joints <br />smooth, and touch up shop paint coat. <br />05500.8.3. Field Welding. Comply with AWS Code for procedures of manual <br />shielded metal -arc welding, appearance and quality of weld made, and methods <br />in correcting welding work. <br />05500.8.4.
