11188.5 <br />A RESOLUTION DECLARING <br />WESTONKA SENIOR CITIZENS FOUNDATION DAY <br />NOVEMBER 25, 1988 <br />WHEREAS, we need to realize now, more than ever, what a <br />resource our older Americans are, and that the abilities of older <br />Americans to invest our country with their knowledge, creativity <br />and experience cannot be denied; and <br />WHEREAS, senior centers offer valuable service to the <br />community in providing our senior citizens the benefits of good <br />fellowship, encouragement and support, the opportunity to help <br />themselves and each other, and offering service of access to <br />community services as needed; and <br />WHEREAS, the present membership of Westonka Senior <br />Citizens, Inc. realizes the insecurity of municipal, state and <br />federal funding for senior centers, and the importance of <br />providing a self-sustaining source for future generations of <br />Westonka area senior citizens; <br />THEREFORE, we hereby proclaim November 25, 1988 as <br />Westonka Senior Citizens Foundation Day in our community, and <br />urge the initiation of a united effort on the part of the entire <br />community to establish a Westonka Senior Citizens Foundation by <br />which the funds will perpetuate the services to those future <br />older citizens to promote independence and enhance the quality of <br />their lives. <br />Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, <br />Minnesota at a regular meeting held November 14, 1988. <br />Edward J.
