Smith Sewer Connection letter -2-
2) The other alternative is for the City to
obtain the easement, through condemnation
if necessary, and extend the stub to your
actual property line. In this case, your
costs would be the same as above plus a
lateral assessment equal to the City's full
cost for engineering, easement acquisition
and installation.
You also expressed interest in aFat.ting water to your home. You
have been assessed for one residential water unit and 50ft of
water lateral, the minimum assessment in that project. A separate
stub is provided on Dunwoody. Again, you have two options:
1) Obtain your own easement and hire your own
contractor to make the connection. The only
fee required would be a $20.50 permit.
2) Again, the City could extend the stub but all
costs for the additional extension would be
charged back to you as a special project. The
water extension could be Jone as part of a sewer
extension if the City is doing to be involved in
such a project.
You indicated to ne that you can not ust.: a dishwasher and avoid
flushing your toilet because of overflow from your septic system.
Installation of the sewer especially seems necessary. You are
in the unique situation of having a ?and -locked parcel with a
home only about 15`t. from the lake. You can be assured that
the City will actively work to correct this situation.
In order to expedite matters, I plan to brig this to the
attention cf the current City Council at their next meeging, to
be held at 7:00 P.M., Monday July 13, 1981. I will send you
a copy of the iger.da on the Friday before that meeting.
Mr. Smith, please let me know which option you would like to
pursue. If you plan to ask the council to extend the lines to
your prorcrty, it would be hclpfull if you would put that request
in writiriq.
Sincer Vson
Xan
City Planner
CC: W. R. Benson, City Administrator •
Michael P. Gaffron, On -site Septic Manager
Glenn R. Cook, City Engineer
John R. Gerhardson, Public Works Coordinator
