MINU2RS OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD MAY 91 1986 <br />#1262 CURT HAGPORS <br />1412 BALDUR PART( ROAD <br />VARIANCE <br />RESOLUTION i2427 <br />City Administrator Bernhaldson explained the request to <br />replace the foundation under the existing house And to <br />construct major additions to the house and a new <br />detached garage. The proposal consists of lifting the <br />existing house and moving it temporarily into the 0-75' <br />area while constructing a new foundation which will be <br />located so that it meets the side setback and average <br />lakeshore setback. There is no hardcover in the 0-75' <br />zone and none is proposed. Hardcover in the 75-250' zone <br />is proposed at 35.3% requiring a variance. The proposal <br />also consists of removing an existing garage that is <br />located 10' from the street lot line and replacing it <br />with a new detached garage 17' from the street lot line <br />requiring a variance. <br />Curtis Haqfors was present for this matter and noted <br />that he 1.ruposes a sidewalk from the garage to the house <br />Instead of the stepping stones indicated on the survey. <br />It was moved by Councilmember Goetten, seconded by <br />Councilmember Peterson, to adopt Resolution 12427 <br />approving the proposal per staff recommendation. <br />Motion, Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />MAYOR'S REPORT: <br />Mayor Grabek reported that he will be appearing before <br />the City of Long Lake Cc-inci 1 on May 17, 1988. He <br />plans to propose a joint Long Lake and Orono community <br />effort of working together. He stated he intends to <br />address the continued threat of annexation on Long <br />I,ake's part. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION APPOIN'IKKUT <br />Councilmember Peterson stated that any of the five <br />canaldn+ns would be qualified to serve on the Planning <br />Commission noting that it is a difficult decision to <br />choose only one individual for this allointment. <br />It was moved by Councilmember Peterson to nominate <br />Robert L. Minkema, 3200 Bayside Road, as a new Planning <br />Commission member. Her nomination is based on Mr. <br />Minkema's involvement with accounting practices with <br />other cities; and his philosophy on what and how Orono <br />should remain. <br />There was no second to the motion.
