MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD <br />OF ORONO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 278 <br />HELD ON AUGUST 29, 1988 i- <br />A special meeting of the School Board of Orono Independent School Disfrtc,Vp. <br />278 was held on Monday, August 29, 1988 at 6:30 a.m. <br />1yr <br />Present: Dave McKown James Franklin Thoma's�� 'lift <br />D )a Anderson John Maresh Wi 1 1 i am Fenho�t <br />Kitty Crosby Lucie Taylor <br />Member Lucie Taylor introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORTZING SPECIAL MEETING UNDER EMERGENCY <br />CIRCUMSTANCES AND WAIVING STATUTORY NOTICE <br />WHEREAS, the S:hool District has commenced proceedings in <br />eminent domain to acquire all of the right title and interest of <br />Woods Academy in the School District's Maple Plain Elementary <br />School site; and <br />WHEREAS, the parties have entered into negotiations <br />regarding the amount of compensation to be paid to Woods Academy <br />for the settlement of all of its claims against the School <br />District; and <br />WHEREAS, circumstances have required that the School Board <br />conduct a special meeting at this time in order to compromise., <br />settle and resolve the dispute so that the School District may <br />make arrangements for its occupancy and utilization of the <br />building with the commencement of the 1988-89 school year. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by Independent School <br />District No. 278 as follows: <br />1. That each member concurs in and approves of the <br />corvening of a special School District meeting under emergency <br />c —cimstances for the purposes of resolving this matter, and <br />t,rther, that each School Hoard member waives statutory notice <br />for such meeting. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resoluticn was <br />duly seconded by Member Jim Franklin _ and upon vote <br />being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Kitty Crosby, John Maresh, Lucie Taylor, Jim Franklin, Don Anderson, <br />Dave McKown <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />None <br />whereupon maid Resolution was declared duly passed and adept.ed. <br />
