August 8, 1988 <br />Discussion <br />Please review the memo and exhibits of August 8, 1988. Applicants are <br />requesting a street setback variance to allow construction of a glass - <br />enclosed sunroom within an existing indentation of their house , which is <br />19' from the street right-oi-way where a 50' setback is normally required. <br />This sunroom will extend no further towards the street than *he existing <br />house that surrounds it. <br />A variance was granted to the Rowlettes in 1976 -o add the currently <br />existing garage and room addition. One of the -onditions of that 1976 <br />at-prova 1 was removal of the 20' x 20' concrete p o on the lak 9e of the <br />house. That patio was never removed. Planning _immission as na of their <br />recommendation for approval is recommending that the southerly 10' x 20' <br />section of that patio be removed prior to issuance cf a building permit for <br />the sunroom. The applicant's have •reed that this '.s acceptable to them. <br />they wish to keep the northerly ' x 20' sectio-A due to winter ice <br />problems with their upper deck acces_ oor. <br />Staff Recomendation <br />Staff recommends apt; i1 of a street setback variance to allow a <br />sunroom to be constructed i rom the street right-of-way and a hardcover <br />variance for Gerald & Candace Rowlette, :775 Bayside Road, conditioned upon <br />removal of the southerly 10' r 20' portion of concrete patio on the <br />lakeside on the house, prior to issuance nf a building permit for the <br />sunroom.
