Draft Ordinance - Teen Drinking Parties <br />ISSUE - Presentation of revised liquor ordinance regarding <br />responsibility for underage consumption. <br />INTRODUCTION - At the Council's last meeting they adopted an <br />ordinance Amendment reguarding responsibility of individuals <br />allowing alcohol consumption by underage individuals. At the <br />request of the Counci 1 the City Attorney researched the matter <br />and revamped the Ordinance. <br />DISCUSSION - While this ordinance does impose a duty on the <br />responsible party of the premises that is not in State Statute <br />(except fog license holders), the State Statute does state <br />possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages by an underage <br />individual not in the household of his/her parents or guardian. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />1. Adopt as revised <br />2. Amend and adopt <br />3. Not adopt leaving prior adoption in place <br />RECOMMENDATION - It is recommended that the Council adopt the <br />revised ordinance language. <br />PROPOSED MOTION - Moved by __, 7onded by , that the Orono <br />City Council adopt the drat'. or, ice language of A. tachment A <br />as a substitute for the amendmen _jopted at the 7/1_1/8C Council <br />meeting.
