Minutes <br />City Council Regular Meeting <br />Monday, August 25, 2025, 6:00 PM <br />City Council Chambers 2780 Kelley Parkway, Orono, MN 55356 <br />Mayor Tunheim called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Orono City Council members present: Mayor Bob Tunheim, City Council Members Alisa Benson, Steve <br />Persian, Jacqueline Ricks, and Jon Schwingler. Members absent: None. <br />Staff present were City Attorney Soren Mattick, City Administrator/Engineer Adam Edwards, Public <br />Works Superintendent DJ Goman, Parks Superintendent Joe Ruthenberg, and Community Development <br />Director Laura Oakden. <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />The agenda was approved by consensus with the addition of Fire Department expenditures to Item 13. <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />1. City Council Minutes <br />2. Claims/Bills <br />3. Park Commission Special Meeting September 9 <br />4. Donation from Pelican Point Homeowners Association — Resolution 7608 <br />5. Establish and Close Funds <br />6. Maintenance Quote — Video Inspection of Sanitary Sewer System <br />7. Maintenance Quote — Tree Trimming and Removal <br />This Item was removed from the Consent Agenda <br />8. LA25-000025, 1530 Orchard Beach Place, Variance — Resolution 7613 <br />This Item was removed from the Consent Agenda <br />Benson moved, Persian seconded, to approve the Consent Agenda Items 1 through 6. VOTE: Ayes <br />5, Nays 0. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Jay Nygard, 1386 Rest Point Rd., provided comments. <br />7. Maintenance Quote — Tree Trimming and Removal <br />Benson asked about how tree removal requests are prioritized. <br />City Administrator Edwards explained there is a prioritization system that looks at the health of trees, <br />efficiency of proximity to other trees that need to come down, and whether the City employees can <br />remove them. <br />Benson moved, Ricks seconded, to accept the tree maintenance quote from CJS Services for <br />$21,429.
