MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING SEPTEMBER 6, 1989 <br />ZONING FILE #1441-COPLEY CONTINUED <br />Meeting. Motion, Ayes=5, ,;ays=O, Motion passed. <br />#1443 JOHN SKOGLUND <br />1840 FOX STREET <br />VARIANCE <br />PUBLIC HEARING 7:05 P.M. TO 7:10 <br />Mr. and Mrs. Skoglund were <br />Mr. Jack Taylor, their Attorney. <br />P.M. <br />present for this matter, as was <br />The Affidavit of Publication and Certificate of Mailing were <br />duly noted. <br />Building and Zoning Administrator Mabusth explained that the <br />applicants were seeking a setback variance to the required <br />setback for accessory structures placed in frcnt of the front <br />line of the existing residence. <br />Mr. Taylor said that the house faces primarily west, even <br />though the designated front lot line faces Fox Street. fie said <br />that he understood the City's Code does not allow a front lot <br />line to be designated on a private drive, but that the Skoglund's <br />residence was situated in that way. He said that the proposed <br />pool would be located fairly close to where the previous pool was <br />located when a house was first built on this property. The pool <br />house is needed for the pool and will contain a changing room. <br />Mr. Taylor said that there is no other place to locate the pool <br />house. Mr. Taylor said that the pool house would be well <br />screened by trees from Fox Street. Mr. Taylor said that there <br />would be landscaping and trees planted around the pool on the <br />west side. He said that pool house would be located <br />approximately 100+ feet from F-)x Street. <br />There were no comments from the public regarding this matter <br />and the public hearing was closed. <br />It was moved by Planning Commissioner Hanson, se- nded by <br />Planning Commissioner Johnson, to recommend approval of the <br />location of a pool and pool house in the front yard subject to <br />staff's conditions a and b (see JAM memo 8/29/89). Planning <br />Commissioner Cohen noted that the proposal showed the pool house <br />to have two stories. Chairman Kelley said that was due to the <br />slope of the land. Chairman Kelley said that he would like the <br />plantings to be a requirement. Planning Commissioner Hanson <br />amended nis motion to reflect that, Planning Commissioner Johnson <br />seconded.
