. . ' <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 181 <br /> AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL <br /> CODE OF ORONO BY AMENDING CHAPTER 6 <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF ORONO ORDAINS: <br /> Section 1. The Municipal Code of the City of Orono is amended <br /> by amending Chapter 6 as follows: <br /> 6. POLICE DEPARTMENT <br /> 6. 010. Organization. The Police Department shall <br /> consist of a Chief of Police and as many additional police <br /> officers as the City Council may from time to time by <br /> resolution authorize. , <br /> 6. 020. Chief of Police; General Duties. The Chief <br /> of Folice shall obey all orders and directions of the City <br /> Clerk-Administrator and shall be responsible to the City Clerk- <br /> Administrator for the enforcement of all ordinances of the City <br /> and all laws of the State of Minnesota. He shall be responsible <br /> for the training and discipline of the members of the Police <br /> Department and of the organization thereof as an effective <br /> policing unit. He shall further be responsible for compliance <br /> by the Police Department and members the�eof with all laws, <br /> ordinances, rules and regulations of the City and directions <br /> of the City Clerk-Administrator relating tothe Police Department <br /> and to police protection functions of the City. The City Clerk- <br /> Administrator may designate one of the members of the Police <br /> Department as acting chief who shall assume all of the functions <br /> and responsibilities and exercise all of the authority of - <br /> the chief in the absence or disability of the chief. <br /> 6. 030. Duties of Police Officers. Each member of <br /> the Police Department subordinate to the Chief of Police shall <br /> obey the instructions of the chief and of any superior officer. <br /> Each police officer shall serve all warrants and processes <br /> � delivered to him for service in the City which by law he is <br /> authorized to serve and to notice and diligently inquire into <br /> and report to the Chief of Police and the City Attorney all <br /> violations �f ordinances of the City, all violations cf the <br /> criminal laws of the State of Minnesota, and to make complaints <br /> against the person or persons guilty thereof. <br />
