July 27, 1987 <br />TO: City of Orono <br />PO Box 66 <br />Crystal Bay, MN 55323 <br />FROM: Glen Sauer <br />4104 Highwood Road <br />Mound, MN 55364 <br />To Whom It May Concern: <br />I would like to have the city look into a storm sewer system to <br />handle the water that flows through Glen's back yard from natural runoff <br />for about a four block area. In Glen's yard there is a 20 inch culvert <br />which runs under HIghwood Road. And on the other side, many years ago, <br />people ran a 10 inch tile down to the lake instead of having a drainage <br />ditch which kept washing out to cross to get to their house. The water <br />t t 8 f <br />t dee in la s of Glen's yard and floods through other <br />ee p <br />ge s o p <br />yards. The house at 4109,1"hich is next to Glen's, had water in the basement <br />from this last flood. On the lake side of Highwood Road and County <br />Road 19, three more families had their yards, trees, and shrubs washed <br />out by this water also. <br />There is a fire lane across Highwood Road from Glen's yard that a <br />storm sewer could be run down to the lake between 40 1and 4075 Highwood <br />Road and still le-:p the regular drain in use. J. <br />I have talked to some of the neighbors and they have agreed that <br />this would take care of the problem. Below are their signatures and <br />addresses so you can verify that what I say is true. <br />Enclosed please find pictures taken after this last storm that <br />prove the need for this sewer system.
