PUBLIC/PRIVATE ROADS - A number of residents from the Hollander <br />Road area have been inquiring about the possibility of conversion <br />of their private road to a public street. Staff has indicated <br />that presently the City's direction has been to keep the private <br />streets private, however, that should they desire to convert the <br />street to public that perhaps they should get into contact with <br />the other homeowner associations of private streets to approach <br />the City Council as a group, rather than as individual streets. <br />They have Inquired as to whether the fact their street 1s not a <br />cul-de-sac but more of a circle route, would have any impact on% <br />their being differentiated from the others and have a greater <br />possibility of a conversion to a public street. Our indication <br />to them has been at this point is that this would not be a <br />significant factor in any staff recommendation regarding this <br />matter. It was also Indicated to them that based on previous <br />discussions by Council In this matter, that should the Council <br />ever consider conversion of private streets to public streets <br />that the private streets would have to brought up to City <br />standards. A preliminary review on the Hollander Road case would <br />Indicate that they would have to spend approximately $20,000- <br />25,000 to meet those standards. <br />
