(00(O <br />n uANowt [eom-mesa <br />uacePra. ma-oL-Lan <br />O IR[CT DIAL NVMm[e <br />334-2755 <br />May 13, 1988 <br />Mr. Jeffrey Carson <br />8rookdale Corporate Center, Suite 305 <br />6400 Shingle Creek Parkway <br />Minneapolis, MN 55430 <br />Dear Mr. Carson: <br />This letter will respond to your correspondence dated <br />March 3, 1988, to John Gerhardson at the City of Orono, regarding <br />the two cabins owned by Mr. Gerald Toberman at 1950 Shoreline <br />Drive. <br />To protect the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens <br />of Orono, the City has enacted City Ordinance, Section 9.02. <br />Subdivision 2 of this ordinance states in pertinent parts <br />Sewer Connection Required. All plumbing in <br />a building or structure shall be connected to the <br />City sewer system, in accordance with the City <br />Code whenever a City sewer is available . . . . <br />City sewer is now available to Mr. Toberman's property and thus <br />the cabins must be connected to comply with the law, irrespective <br />of their non -conforming statue. <br />At present, the cabins' septic systems are connected to a <br />holding tank. This situation was permitted only on a temporary <br />basis until the sewer system became available or the buildings <br />were removed. The City considers the existing systems a <br />potential health hazard. The City has now made the sewer system <br />available and because Mr. Toberman does not intend to remove the <br />cabins, the temporary measure must end and the sewer connections <br />made immediately. <br />
